Near Churchill (Manitoba, Canada) large numbers of polar bears gather at the beginning of winter in anticipation of ice forming on Hudson Bay.  The bears need the ice to hunt and feed off of seals for survival.  Recent years have seen ice forming weeks later, so these polar bears are actually quite thin and irritable.
